Genesys GT:
For just above $200, the Genesys GT is awfully full-featured, packed with a re-designed Jug Precise liner, Featherlite 2 frames from Ground Control and 56mm/90A wheels from BHC. It comes with exchangeable soul frames and backslide plates which protect the boot and can be easily replaced when worn. The groove of the backslide plate is perfectly aligned with the frame making locking on a snap and no breaking-in necessary. Combined with a hot color scheme the feature set is a win. It powers the skate to benchmarks typically seen in skates with a much higher price tag — and to an exceptional skating performance.
Features:
· GC Featherlite 2 frames
· Jug Precise Liner
· Replaceable Soul frame & backslide plate
· BHC 56mm/90A wheels
· ABEC 3 bearings
The Aragon 3 is the third skate of Razors’ groundbreaking Superlight skate generation and comes with a host of new details and features: 2 cross beams in the backslide plate area significantly increase support and control. A new developed PU heel pad underneath the liner is ergonomically designed and dissipates any shock when slamming your foot down. An additional 6th eyelet hole allows further tightening of the skate and prevents any movement within the skate. The Aragon 3 comes with Jug’s SL liner which was specifically developed for Brian’s skate. An important new feature is a silicon grip pattern in the back which sticks to the inside wall effectively preventing slipping and shifting of the liner. Additional improvements are a more articulated ankle shape with extra high density foam to lock your foot in, a new high performance insole made of high end Polyurethane plus gel pad and a 4-point lacing system for fast entry and tight fit.
Unchanged are the amazing skate characteristics, such as a super direct contact to the ground, easy transitions and effortless performance of tricks such as backslides, royals and torques.
- Cross beams in backslide plate area for responsive boot tricks
- JUG gel heel pad
- Interlocking heel pad and soul frame
- Additional eyelet holes for extra support
- New JUG SL liner with double heel lock and 4 point lacing
- Velcro tongue attachment
- Silicon grip pattern
- GC FLT frame
- M1 Aragon 57 mm/90A wheels
- ABEC 5 bearings

The new Jug Argyle liner, which has been in the works for over a year, is now available for order.
The Jug Argyle liner solves one of the most annoying problems in rolling: slipping and shifting liners. Jug developed a material with silicon grip pattern which sticks to the inside wall of the skate, effectively preventing the liner from shifting and moving.
New designed J-pads surround your ankle and look your heel in. A high rebound 15 mm foam padding adapts to the contours of your foot and provides comfort and perfect fit. Also new is a 4-point lacing system for fast entry and tight fit without endless excess cords. The Argyle liner also comes with the proven Jug Tongue Velcro System which prevents shifting of the tongue and the super comfortable Polyurethane insole with gel pads. A laminate inside the cuff area provides support and prevents the edge of the cuff to dig into your leg.
New Features:
- Silicone grip pattern
- J-pad ankle lock
- High rebound foam
- Duel density Gel footbed
- 4-point lacing system
- Velcro tongue lock
- Articulated, pre-shaped tongue
- Removable tongue insert
- Stash pocket
The Argyle liner comes in high top (HT) and V-cut.

The New Jug High Top Shoe Commercial from Razors News on Vimeo.
Everything on the JUG HT is designed from scratch, from the outsole and a custom designed insole to imported PU and action leather materials. The outsole conforms to DIN 90 which means it’s is more than three times as abrasive resistant as conventional soles which is a result of its high Butadiene styrene rubber content.
The insole is specifically made for Jug from a high end Polyurethane with gel heel insert which provides a feeling of walking on clouds. It comes with black waxed laces with engraved metal tips. An extra pair of white laces is included in the box.

I haven’t bought a skate video in a while. Mindgame Bang maybe was the last one.

An old LG phone with a cracked screen and no antenna.
Could you live without it? For how long?
Yes. I hate my phone. The longest consecutive amount of time I’ve gone without a cell phone is a month. I could easily go longer.
How has blading made you a better person?
Rollerblading has given me an outlet and an escape that I couldn’t find in any other activity or sport I have ever participated in. It has more than likely kept me away from a lot of destructive decisions, provided me a strong group of friends, and given me incentive to travel the world. But at the same time a lot of other hobbies, interests, jobs and women have been abandoned due to skating. Rollerblading has definitely had a huge role in molding me into who I am today. I’m not necessarily sure if I’m a better person because of it, but I am happy with the results.
If you didn’t have blading where would you be right now?
I would be finished with college, holding down a successful job, and still be with my last girlfriend.
Do you think you personally contribute to creating new bladers?
Yes.

iPhone 3G
Could you live without it? For how long?
No, I feel lost whenever I don’t have it on me. I kinda bugs me how reliant I am on technology.
How has blading made you a better person?
Exposed me to many different lifestyles and personalities. It has created a driving force within me to be creative and not settle for things “in the box”.
If you didn’t have blading where would you be right now?
Face down in a ditch maybe, haha. I don’t know, I think about those types of questions alot. I don’t things would be much different, I would probably alot more focused on art and music, but I think in the long run I would end up where I am right now.
Do you think you personally contribute to creating new bladers?
Not to creating new bladers, but I contribute to educating non-bladers. Like my roommates, none of whom blade, now watch skate videos with me and know a bit about the industry. Educating a person on skating is the 1st and most important step to someone who might start blading. Every blader should know about the industries history and the key players within it, past and present. If there is more education in new bladers, it will create a more fruitful industry and reputation.
If yes, how? If no, why not?
Woops, read the response above, I kinda went off on a tangent.

What kind of cellular device do you have?
I have an LG dumbphone. No internet, no camera, and texting is disabled. Just make calls, take calls, and check voicemail for me.
Could you live without it? For how long?
I’m not a big fan of phones so I could live without it for a while. Especially if I could communicate via the internet on a non phone device.
How has blading made you a better person?
The evolution of my skating has enabled me to draw parallels to the ups and downs the Way of the Boot has with life as a whole. It has improved my personal relationships, my perception of my surroundings, and the goals I have for my life.
If you didn’t have blading where would you be right now?
If I lost the ability to skate today, I would just relive it over and over in my head to get through the bad times. If I had never found it to begin with, I don’t know where I’d be. Skating has brought me to some wonderful places where I have met the most wonderful people, and hopefully I would have found another way to connect with the world.
Do you think you personally contribute to creating new bladers?
I try to be approachable when I’m at a skatepark or I’m at a location where there’s kids around. I make it a point to say hello and break the ice so the kids don’t feel as nervous when asking me how to do something, or if I can do a misty flip or a 900.

Uh…I don’t remember the last time I bought a skate DVD. Maybe “Them Apples” like 5 years ago.
What kind of cellular device do you have?
Verizon LG from 2007. I’m not big on trendy, high-tech gadgets. Although, having the internet at all times seems amazing at some times.
Could you live without it? For how long?
I couldn’t live without my phone. If I had to live without it I would hope it would be for less than a day.
How has blading made you a better person?
It enspires me to eat right and treat my body better. It helped me to quit smoking (twice), keeps my idle hands (or feet…whatever) occupied, and allows me an amazing artistic outlet that fuels my wicked adrenaline addiction.
If you didn’t have blading where would you be right now?
I’d probably either be doing something amazingly noble for mankind or I’d be a complete waste of human life drug addict/alcoholic who never did anything productive with his short sad existance (or I’d be dead).
Do you think you personally contribute to creating new bladers?
Probably not, I’m pretty anti-social. Maybe someone has seen what I do at a skatepark or something and dug it enough to go out and buy a pair of skates. That’d be rad.
If yes, how? If no, why not?
I don’t know how to make other people want to rollerblade other than by going out and doing it. I saw it and thought it was cool, so I started doing it. I wanted to be that guy boosting big airs and going real fast and it’s all just evolved from there. That’s the only way I understand it, so that’s the only way I’d know to create a new rollerblader (Frankie Morales and Jaren Grob inspired me and they don’t know it, so maybe I’ve inspired someone too?!).

Everything To Do With Atlanta Rollerblading
Pilehead, Josh Waggoner, started up a blog site to document the ever growing amount of rollerblading activities in the Atlanta area. Since his passing in March of 2008 a dedicated group of friends and skaters continued with this site. It’s one of our favorite sites for loads of reasons, mainly because it’s what it’s all about. Check it out.
1. Where do you live and what are you currently doing in life, skating, and everyday?
I live in Boone, NC. I’m a junior at Appalachian State University. And I’m majoring in English Lit. School occupies a lot of my time but I try to skate as much as I can, weather and health permitting. I’m currently filming for David Dodge’s new video Southern Motion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RReMXDeCK6M
2. Whats up with the mountain man skate scene and how has it evolved since you’ve been there?
The mountain scene is thriving. We have a real chill atmosphere up here. Thereis little, if any, hate based on what you’re rolling on. Several skateboarders have converted to rollerblading after watching a few of the contests we’ve held at the local park. Some of the boarders actually rollerblade as well and will always give you props when you land a good trick. New rollerbladers are constantly moving to the area for college or just to live in the town. There is always a session and people are always visiting to skate/film/chill. Aside from the crackdown law enforcement, its the best place to skate.
3. Do you have a signature trick?
Yeah, Pornstar or AO Mizou
4. You skate pretty nuts, so how does your girl remain emotionless while she watches?
She has no soul. Haha. Na, its because I fall a lot and she is just use to it.
5. What is your power animal?
Wolf.
6. Your skate set up?
As of now, nothing…. I was busted for street skating and the ASU Police robbed me of my rollerblades. But I will soon be rocking the new RB DT5 with Fiziks frames.
7.) Sponsors? Skatepile.com and Rollerblade
Lately I have noticed more bearings companies have been coming out with Swiss bearing which is good news because Swiss bearings are your average bearings. It is easy to gain and maintain speed and the life of these bearings is crazy. The new Renegade Swiss Bearings are no exception. I have been riding these things since June and they are still holding up strong and roll just as fast as when I first bought them. Whether on park, street, dirt or in the rain, these bearings seem to hold up very well. Besides, $25 for a pack of swiss bearings is as good as it gets. Get some!! –Click Here to Order–

Radius Media 3 - I have always loved the work that Charles Dunkle and Shawn Engler have done in the past years, whether it be when they were making the gritty Rejects video and magazines, the Roces video, and now Radius Media. There projects have always had a personal “Bama” touch that have inspired me to go out and skate something out of the ordinary or try a little harder to make skating look more badass. Lately Charles and Shawn have been building and investing in a new generation of kids to help carrying on the “bama” spirit of crazy antics and proper filming, editing and overall production.

The newest issue of Radius is the third installment called the “Profile Issue”. With 6 profile fitted into this issue it definitely deserves such a title. The intro is the standard opening montage that features skaters Steven Tat, David Sizemore, James Beary, Joey Chase, Casey Mcfarland, Brian Aragon and several others, sets a very heavy tone for the rest of the video. The first profile is Sammy Chase, Joey Chase’s younger brother. This section is short but sweet, Sammy has really solid style with some really sick tricks. The last trick is absolutely rediculous. Casey Mcfarland’s section is up next. Before seeing this section I hadn’t seen a lot of skating from Casey, aftering seen this section I am really curious to why I hadn’t. Casey’s trick vocab and overall skating style is crazy. The best part about this section is that most of the spots he skates are pretty unique which is expected with any bama video. Kevin Meland’s section is up next, his style reminds me of Chris Farmer’s a little, which is always a good thing. His skating is super clean, along with his tricks and execution. Up next is Casey Bagozzi aka I can do any switch up imaginable. His style is definitely it’s own and it has developed into a style that is really refreshing from the standard cookie cutter syle you see today. Jeremy Soderburg’s section is short but has a really good vibe, his tricks and style are really sick, plus he does a grabbed negative makio through a kink rail, which is the first I have ever seen. The final section is Skatepile rider, David Sizemore’s section, this is my favorite section in the video and my favorite of all of David’s sections. The hammers, song, and overall editing of this section definitely gives David a “harder and grittier” apperance as oppsed to David’s usual bubblegum image. This section is composed mainly of huge hammers that most people would not even think about skating, including David skating the infamous 16th street Baptist Church in downtown Birmingham that was bombed during the civil right movement in 1963.

The Radius guys have just one upped themselves with another grat video. Although its rather short, it still has a great vibe to it, plus there is not a single filler trick. I’m a fan of big wheels, you go faster with them, it is easier to gain more speed, they last longer. The size of these wheels is the reason I decided to give them a try. I had never tried M1 wheels before, I had always heard they wore down pretty fast, but I also heard they grip pretty well, so I give em a shot. I am pretty light guy so I don’t usually go through wheels real fast, these wheels have seemed to have held up pretty well for how long I have been riding them. When I first got them they rolled really well, really smooth and really fast, but since they have worn down it seems that they have gotten softer and depending on the surface you are riding on they can get pretty slick. Usually if I ride a wheel this long it has already chunked, but not these wheels, they seem to be pretty durable. Overall these are some pretty tough wheels, they last long and ride well on most surfaces, I give them a 8.5 out of 10. - Click Here to Order -

I am terribly and undescribeably sad. Most of you have seen, met or know very well our dear friend Josh Waggoner. Yesterday afternoon at about 2:30pm Josh fell while street skating. His best friend, Wayne Engeron, was with him. The fall was to his ribs first and then Josh hit his head. He was immediately knocked unconcious. We got the phone call from Richard Williams at about 3:30pm and gathered our kids to head to the hospital for what we thought was a concussion. Upon arriving to the hospital we found out from Josh’s mom, Vicki, the severity of the situation was far worse. I stayed at the hospital with about 100 of Josh’s closest friends and family. We were allowed to visit him 3 at a time. The night dragged on. Spirits began to rise as we all told each other this could not be Josh’s time.
At about 1:00am Josh’s family, Wayne and Josh’s girlfriend were called back to meet with his doctor. There was a devastating silence in the waiting room. Finally, about 10 minutes later a hospital patient representative came into the room and told us the most unfortunate news we never wanted to hear. Josh is not going to make it. His brain was damaged beyond repair. He continues to be on life support while the family makes preparations for organ donation.
Never in a million years did I want to have to write something like this. My heart aches. My eyes sting. My mind cannot seem to wrap around the magnitude of losing such a sweet and loving young person.
We love you Josh!
Erin Hyser
On Behalf of the Skatepile Family
I have been using Crap bearings exclusively for a few years now, and they hold up very well. They are priced very reasonably, and they last a long time, as long as you avoid skating in sandy or wet conditions. Obviously all bearings will suffer under these conditions. Crap bearings have the longevity and durability that I have grown to trust, and I recommend them to fellow skaters looking for the same quality in the products they choose.
They come in a pack of 8, which is enough to refresh the bearings in the outer wheels of your anti-rocker/freestyle setup, or you can buy two packs of 8 if you skate flat or need to update your anti-rocker wheels as well. Click THIS LINK to check out the product page.
How did you start rollerblading?
I used to rollerskate with my sister at skate rinks when I was 5
years old and I loved it even though I was the consistently the worst
skater there every week. My brother and mom would skateboard at Kona
Skatepark in Jacksonville, Florida during that time and I always
watched the rollerbladers instead of them. So one day I asked my dad
to let me step it up and let me rollerblade there. I fell in love
instantly and have skated since I was 8 years old.
Who has the best royal in the business?
I’d say now it’s a toss up between Chris Smith and Shima. But Arlo’s
1996 royal is the best of all time.
Why is ATL the best place in the world?
Because you guys have the best skaters in the scene right now and
everyone is still having fun and keeping it real there. You can’t
find that anywhere in extreme sports now-a-days.
What was the last thing you ate?
A dragon roll from Sushi Boom in San Francisco.
Why does Arlo wear pink jeans with zebra print v-neck tshirts?
Because he can. Arlo is a legend with one of the most unique and
intelligent personalities I’ve ever met. He can wear whatever the
hell he wants and pull it off. And that outfit is just plain sexy.
Do you care about the condition of our planet?
I wish I cared enough to do something about it. But I do care about
our planet, it’s environment, and our generations to come’s futures.
I just don’t do a ton about it unfortunately.
Do you recycle?
I don’t have a choice but to recycle living in California. I haven’t
seen a regular trash can in at least 6 months. I recycle religiously.
You’re probably drinking out of the remnants of one of my recycled
beer cans right now.
Do you do any other sports?
Yes I do. I run track and field and cross-country on a Division I
NCAA College team, the University of San Francisco. I hope to go to
the 2012 Olympics in my event the 3000 meter steeple chase. I also
play basketball and snowboard when I have free time. But I’m always
up for any sport but skateboarding.
Would you still drive a car if all the sidewalks were made like a
trampoline?
Yes I would. But I would drive hella less than I do now. I wouldn’t
wear heels anymore though.
How many push-ups can you do?
I do about 80 a day with track training. But I can probably do a
little more. Arm strength isn’t my strongest suit.
What is the longest stair ride you have ever done?
24 stairs when I was 16 in Fiziks frames flat-rockered.
Can you do an old fashion front flip?
God no…I wish. I can back-flip, which isn’t nearly as cool.
Do you call skating backward fakie or just backward?
That isn’t important at all…but I probably say fakie to rollerbladers
and backward to non-skaters.
I have switched from the Rollerblade Downtown 4 boot to The new Rollerblade Point 8 boot. There are definitely major differences in the designs. The Point 8 is more structured, and the sole plates slide faster. The best thing that is changed between the Downtown 4 to the Point 8 is the New Cuff. The new cuff allows for the skater to customize their ankle flexibility. Much appreciated. I have skated these skates for about a month, and the durability is exceptional. I haven’t had to worry too much about new parts or anything like that, so I am having a great time with my Rollerblade Point 8’s.

Who has the best royal in the business?

Why does Arlo wear pink jeans with zebra print v-neck tshirts?

Yes, I don’t litter and I’m starting to recycle. The farther I go in my chemistry studies, I find myself being more and more concerned with the condition of the planet and the long term effects humans have on the environment.
Do you recycle?
Yes, Glass mainly because it can be recycled 100%. When plastic is recycled only about 30% can be reused. Asking for paper bags at the grocery store is a great way to help the environment.

Do you call skating backward fakie or just backward?
Fakie, it’s quicker to say.
How did you start rollerblading?
I first got skates to play street hockey and pick up girls at the roller rink, yet made the transition to what I do now by jumping stairs and doing stair rides. I have to say I was influenced by the mainstream TV media. The original MTV Sports/Music Festival, Airborne, and the X-Games all brought my attention the new “aggressive inline skating” so proper TV coverage is a good thing. Then when I saw it done first hand on a family trip to Germany I was hooked.

Kevin Dowling, a.k.a. K-Dirty, has been rollerblading for over 10 years. He has a good eye for style, which makes for an amazing video. Kevin grew up in the rollerblading generation that consumed the Video Groove video magazine series. The Dirty Show DVD has a hint of VG style with a hot new twist. You won’t find yourself bored with the typical ledge, rail, ledge, rail, type skating. Skaters like Walt Austin shred strange spots from banks to rail road ties. Walt is one of the all time best rollerbladers ever. It’s great to see him still pushing it, and even taking it to a level beyond.
Adam Ehalt provides all the insane rail skating that you can dream up. If rails are your thing, Adam Ehalt is your king. Rob Guerrero came all the way from Cali to film with Dowling for three weeks in the ATL. As you will see, Rob absolutely killed it in a short time span. Rob’s section is full of smooth, fast, and powerful skating. Mike Martinho’s section has some real bangers. Martinho makes rollerblading look easy and watching his section gets the hype flowin’. Kevin told me I’ve been skating good lately and he wanted to make a section for me, so we did. It’s cool to make a section after 17 years of rollerblading. Hopefully you’ll dig what the Hys laid down. Adam McManus is a new-jack on a mission. His section is popping and he flosses to Beck, making each grind end with a steezer kick. Adam skates with Tim Taylor. Time
Taylor is another true master of rolling. Watch as Tim spins with the illest style and creates new grinds. Tim Taylor! SP amateurs Chris Smith and Carson Starnes have some clips that will remind you that there is no time to sleep. These guys are the next level in technical stunt skating. At the same time there is a surprising section by Jamie Olmstead in the Dirty Show. Jamie has been skating and filming for years. His section may not be huge death stunts, but it has some great innovative moves and good style. It’s a section that reminds you that there’s more to skating than trying to go HUGE. Have a good time and stay fresh and innovative. There are a bunch of other rollerbladers in this video that are amazing. Michael Braud, Andy Kruse, Andrew Jacuzzi, Sexy David (who answers our phones at Skatepile.com), Kevin Dowling himself, Julian Bah, Franco Camayo and more….
This video is worth every penny. K-Dirty busted out with heart on this project, support the Dirty Show and he’ll keep giving your more of what you like. Due to some of the graphic nature of the Dirty Show DVD we do have to give this video an R rating.

From the first time I heard about the Santee Crew I was somehow drawn to the insanity. Like a fan of Ozzy or something. These guys live by the “FID” lifestyle, skating and otherwise. The level of rollerblading in this video is very high and the stunts are huge. Everyone in this video skates fast and tough. Damien Wilson skates like he is chasing a person down that just stole his car. I heard Nick Wood talk about his friend Jimmy, and this dude kills it too. Lyle Shivak has been lacing it for a while. He has the madness true spin and death rail skills. Lyle has some kind of Latimer like style too. Nick Wood never stops progressing. He takes skating to levels beyond in this section. His disaster rail skating is next level insane. Nick destroys all kinds of terrain. Rob Whitcomb put down a real good section too.
If you are looking to see some proper street stunt skating, this DVD will satisfy. Heads up on the gross images between sections.

ATLiens love to roll. Any day of the week you can find a crew rolling the Woodward Skate Park at Discover Mills mall. Tuesday nights have become the main skate of the week, but from the looks of this edit by Richard Williams Fridays are hot too. Not only does Atlanta have a huge indoor park, Gwinnett County has built over 5 outdoor cement skate parks in the past few years. Pickneyville Park, Mountain Park Park, Ronald Reagan Park, Dashong Park and others. Gwinnett has plans for an additional five parks to be built over the next two years. Hamilton Mill Park should be completed by spring. This park has a vast array of bowls for your skating pleasure. We’ve heard that Rhodes Jordan Park is next on the list to have a skate park added to their venue. Don’t forget the Factory Skate Park down in Newnan, GA and Progressive Skate Park in Canton too. Clearly Atlanta has a healthy rollerblading scene. Here is the link for Gwinnett County Parks.
Here is the edit by Richard Williams for 12.7.2007. http://www.vimeo.com/422509
Does your city have a great scene? Let us know where you live and what parks you skate. We’ll post it up for everyone to see. Lot’s of rollerbladers travel and are always looking for a new place to skate.
If you missed the HoHoHoes event this weekend, poor you. You missed some off the wall skating, great vibes and oh, yeah, chicks.
Sizemore won the event nailing trick after trick. Brad Magnuson from Duluth, MN won 2nd place. Julian Bah won a cool 3rd place. Michael “Gumby” Braud took home best trick award. Their were other awards handing out by the ladies: Most Girly Jeans went to Kelso, Best Butt went to Crazy J, Favorite Trick went to David Sizemore for his laid out back flip down the stairs. Other skaters to metion that completely went all out: Jeff Dalnas, Steven Tat, Ben?, Chris Smith, Gabe Holm, Robert Guerrero, Brian Starnes, Carson Starnes, Sam, Mike Harper, and many many more.
Check out the Youtube edit by our man Richard Williams. Thanks Richard for putting this together.

At the skate park I feel a respect between the good skaters, whether it be rollers or boarders. I think that skill and respect are factors when there’s trash talking. Generally if a skateboarder is talking badly about rollerblading, they’re probably not very skilled at skateboarding.

The Skatepile crew headed in from ATL to check out the annual Magic City Showdown. We got there at about noon and it was raining… So me and Josh Waggoner hung out at Sean and Charles house and watched the new Radius media DVD. Let me just say that Chris Farmer is a wizard for sure. The Farmer section in this video is worth buying the DVD, plus all the other clips are bad-ass. The music was really good too.
After hanging out at Sean and Charles house, we headed to the meet up house. It was still raining, but everyone decided they were down to skate in the rain. A train of about 10 cars rolled out to this amazing loading dock with a square rail on the side. This spot was seriously rad! Skaters rolled down the hill at this beast and laced some amazing grinds, even though the rain made it super sketch. Stand outs included Little Josh (who is not little anymore) with a royal to big 540 over the end of the loading dock, Mark Wodja with true Soul grinds all the way off the end, David Sizemore with savannahs, and alley-oop rough grinds. Unfortunately with the late start of the event, I had to get back to ATL and leave just after the first spot. Be sure to look online for more information about this cool grass-roots event. Thanks to all the skaters that made this event possible. I’ll be back for more next year. The vibe in Bama is rad and all the skaters are super good. Be sure to buy the new issue of Radius, it’s amazing!

What kind of skates are you using?
I have Xsjados that I use most of the time. I also skate a secrete proto-type of another brand when no one is around. Hopefully this skate will be out in late ’08. It kills me that I can’t skate it every time I skate.
Did you go to Woodward skate camp this summer?
No, not yet. I hope to go at the end of July with my friend Brian Wainwright (google Brian Wainwright and see the real roots of rolling)
What is the newest music you have discovered?
I need to discover some new music…. Let me know if you have something hot. I’ve been stuck on the Gorillas for a while. I really like English Pop music too. Blur, Artic Monkeys, Bad Brains, Damian Marley, are currently on the MP3.
What do you think will be the next fashion trend in free-style rolling?
I think that hip-hop kids will wear normal size pants again. It’s all cycles. Maybe well see some 60’s revival, not sure. I think the Latimer style kids are the raddest. Dudes that look like they are on Phish tour. Hopefully something new will come out of the rolling scene soon.
What do you do when skateboarder talks smack about free-style rolling at your local skate park?
Let them know to shut up. I’m a grown man. I would beat ass, but I am adult, so I can’t afford to go to jail. Don’t put up with it that’s for sure. It depends on the situation. Recently a kid told me that rollerblading is gay, so I asked him to try my skates while I showed him how to ride a skateboard. That was funny, it shut the kid right up. I 5-0’ed 20 feet on the quarter pipe. I used to skateboard before I found free-style rolling, so I still got skills. I thought it was hilarious.

What are you doing this summer?
As far as skating … I try my hardest to skate everyday, and my dog Savannah makes that easy. Dogblading has become a daily thing for me because it helps me bond with my K9 companion, and it makes me remember there can be something else to rollerblading besides grinding. We have FINALLY gotten a sick concrete park ( Kokomo, IN ) within an hour from my house, so my summer plan is to keep skating there at least 3 days a week. If you check out the Be-Mag Photo Issue for 2007, you can catch Savannah’s debut shot into the freestlye rollerblading community.
Who is the future of free-style rolling?
We are all the future of freestyle rolling. But the kids who commit to training as well as rolling will take our sport to new levels.
What is your favorite skate destination?
Currently the Kokomo Indiana Skatepark cause it is 48 miles from my house.
What is your favorite skate event?
SUPERHICK
What kind of skates are you using?
The flavor of the week of my Remz collection is the 0401 Haffey boot setup with a custom backslide plate complimenting the large groove of the Kizer Element frame stuffed with 8 - 58mm Eulogy Wheels.
Did you go to Woodward skate camp this summer?
No, but Summer 2007 would be the 10th anniversary of my first trip to Woodward as a camper. It is truly heaven on earth if you are a die hard skater. I am amazed at all the new stuff I see everytime I see new footage or photos. Woodward East has to be almost the size of a small college campus by now.
What is the newest music you have discovered?
“the good, the bad, and the ugly” soundtrack by Hugo Montenegro and his Orchestra.
What do you think will be the next fashion trend in free-style rolling?
Hopefully not running shorts!
What do you do when skateboarder talks smack about free-style rolling at your local skate park?
Over the years I have reacted in so many ways. On good days I made a new friend and on bad days I ended up too frustrated to be able to focus on skating. These day’s I have my music up so loud I can’t hear the typical skateboard monologue. But in extreme cases I simply lay a hammer down and make rolling DAMN GOOD! To be honest I haven’t met many skateboarders who didn’t end up getting laughed out after I whip out the textbook. As far as the borders who can make it past the first lesson..… they are hard enough to be forced to have respect for what I do simply because skateboarding and rollerblading share some basic fundamentals.

I have recently been inspired by Power Kiting. I am about to order a training kite cause they are much smaller and I hope to be able to think of a few skate stunts with it.
