Andy Kruse First Kind Grind Ever

What is your name?
Andy “Wedge” Kruse

What are you doing this summer?
Working on an archaeological dig and working on a trail crew in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Who is the future of free-style rolling?
What is free-style rolling?  I don’t know who’s the illest these days, I’m out of the loop man.  I just know Jared Toon has been keeping in real in the mountains for years and does whatever he wants on his skates.

What is your favorite skate destination?
Australia is still the skate dreamland of buttery bowls and crispy beaches.

What is your favorite skate event?
Super Hick, niaugga.

What kind of skates are you using?
Xjados with  50/50 Camel Toe freestyle frames and Andy Kruse Face beer funnel wheels.

Did you go to Woodward skate camp this summer?
Negative ghost rider.

What is the newest music you have discovered?
Old Crow Medicine Show, the hot bluegrass.

What do you think will be the next fashion trend in free-style rolling?
Hopefully people just dress more normal and quit trying to make statements through clothing, the tight ho pants phase has got to go!

What do you do when skateboarder talks smack about free-style rolling at your local skate park?
I make comedy back at him, either by telling him to get a leash for his board or to give me his board for firewood tonight.

What is your favorite youtube.com edit?
Friday night sessions with K-Dirty, sondula.

Mark Catelotti Summer 07

What is your name?
Mark Catelotti

What are you doing this summer?
Skating with my friends and taping for our new video, Way of the Boot 2.  Check the ATL section, it’s sure to be hot!

Who is the future of freestyle rolling?
Anyone who straps boots to their feet has the potential to shape the future of freestyle rolling.  Now buy stuff from Skatepile and go out and live the way of the boot!

What is your favorite skate destination?
I really like finding random spots to do creative stall tricks.

What is your favorite skate event?
I’ve been to most of the big ones, and Super Hick holds a special place in my roller-heart.

What kind of skates are you using?
I’m riding all charcoal Xsjado Stockwells with grey Fiziks, Eulogy wheels setup flat, and crap bearings.  I’m soon to be riding M1 Julian Bah wheels, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Did you go to Woodward skate camp this summer?
I’ve never been to Woodward, but I might get the chance to go at the end of the summer.  Fingers crossed.

What is the newest music you have discovered?
I saw Robert Randolph and the Family Band recently, and it was a great show.  Check them out.

What do you think will be the next fashion trend in freestyle rolling?
Pawn gloves will make a comeback, I’ve still got my Jake Elliott’s.

What do you do when skateboarder talks smack about freestyle rolling at your local skate park?
I know what I’m doing makes me happy, so I don’t really pay attention, but being from the Northeast, I will flip the show-you-up switch and teach that fool how a ramp should be ridden.

What is your name?
Tim Schmidt

What are you doing this summer?
As far as skating …  I try my hardest to skate everyday, and my dog Savannah  makes that easy.  Dogblading has become a daily thing for me because it helps me bond with my K9 companion, and it makes me remember there can be something else to rollerblading besides grinding.  We have FINALLY gotten a sick concrete park ( Kokomo, IN )  within an hour from my house, so my summer plan is to keep skating there at least 3 days a week. If you check out the Be-Mag Photo Issue for 2007, you can catch Savannah’s debut shot into the freestlye rollerblading community.

Who is the future of free-style rolling?
We are all the future of freestyle rolling.  But the kids who commit to training as well as rolling will take our sport to new levels.

What is your favorite skate destination?
Currently the Kokomo Indiana Skatepark cause it is 48 miles from my house.

What is your favorite skate event?
SUPERHICK

What kind of skates are you using?
The flavor of the week of my Remz collection is the 0401 Haffey boot setup with a custom backslide plate complimenting the large groove of the Kizer Element frame stuffed with 8 - 58mm Eulogy Wheels.

Did you go to Woodward skate camp this summer?
No, but Summer 2007 would be the 10th anniversary of my first trip to Woodward as a camper.  It is truly heaven on earth if you are a die hard skater. I am amazed at all the new stuff I see everytime I see new footage or photos. Woodward East has to be almost the size of a small college campus by now.

What is the newest music you have discovered?
“the good, the bad, and the ugly” soundtrack by Hugo Montenegro and his Orchestra.

What do you think will be the next fashion trend in free-style rolling?
Hopefully not running shorts!

What do you do when skateboarder talks smack about free-style rolling at your local skate park?
Over the years I have reacted in so many ways.  On good days I made a new friend and on bad days I ended up too frustrated to be able to focus on skating.  These day’s I have my music up so loud I can’t hear the typical skateboard monologue.  But in extreme cases I simply lay a hammer down and make rolling DAMN GOOD!  To be honest I haven’t met many skateboarders who didn’t end up getting laughed out after I whip out the textbook.  As far as the borders who can make it past the first lesson..…  they are hard  enough to be forced to have respect for what I do simply because skateboarding and rollerblading share some basic fundamentals.

I have recently been inspired by Power Kiting.  I am about to order a training kite cause they are much smaller and I hope to be able to think of a few skate stunts with it.
